All fired up for the state comp
MORE than 100 firefighters converged on Sunshine Beach State School not to put out a blazing fire, but to take part in the annual Queensland Fire and Rescue Service Firefighter Competition.
While the firefighters concentrated on their job, school staff were busy behind the scenes helping to make the weekend more enjoyable for everyone.
Business service manager Maree Thomson said it was a pleasure to host the competition and that the school was pleased to be involved with the community.
Leanne Waters, one of the tuckshop convenors, said, "Serving the firies was not a problem as they were a friendly bunch of competitors. Getting up at 4am to serve breakfast to them at 6am on a cold wet morning was more challenging."
