CRICKET: Sunshine Coast all-rounder James Bazley is set for another crack at the Matador Cup again this summer after being selected in the Cricket Australia XI for the country's premier one-day competition.
The 21-year-old, who was yesterday named in the Scorchers side to play against Valleys in the Queensland Premier Grade one-day competition on Sunday, will be guided by Victorian legend Brad Hodge and Troy Cooley in the 14-man squad.
Bazley was included in the Queensland squad for a series of practice matches on the Sunshine Coast earlier this month, and will line-up against his state side on Saturday, October 1, at Allan Border Field in Brisbane.
Bazley burst onto the first-class scene last year for a Cricket Australia XI in a practice match against the West Indies.
There, he broke the opening partnership of Rajendra Chandrika and Kraigg Brathwaite, before hitting a patient half-century against the likes of Jason Holder, Carlos Brathwaite and Kemar Roach.
