A WOMAN is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on the Bruce Hwy on Tuesday and police are calling for dash cam footage to help investigate why.
Early investigations suggest a car heading north on the Bruce Hwy at Kybong (south of Gympie) between 1 and 1.30pm left the road and rolled, before coming to rest beside the highway.
The driver, a 47-year-old Curra woman, was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police are calling for any drivers in the area with dash cam footage, or anyone who may have seen a blue Toyota hatchback travelling between Cooroy and Kybong, to come forward.
Gympie ambulance chief Wayne Sachs was at the scene.
"The passenger has suffered significant injuries to her chest and pelvic area," he said.
Emergency services had to remove the car door before they could reach the woman, who was the sole occupant of the car.
Police said her injuries were consistent with those caused by seat belts in collisions.
Anyone who can help police with the investigation should phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
