Clarke joins Coolum PGA field
NORTHERN Irish golfer Darren Clarke will once again be starring at this year's Australian PGA Championship.
Clarke is one of the most popular members of the tour as far as locals are concerned, thanks to his down-to-earth nature and willingness to mix with fans.
In 2011, Clarke arrived at Coolum with a prized possession in hand - the British Open trophy he secured earlier that year at Royal St George's Golf Club. But rather than wrap the trophy in cotton wool, Clarke shared his joy by handing it around to fans who were naturally eager to pose for photographs with the historic silverware.
And if Clarke's tweets are anything to go by he is just as fond of Coolum as Coolum is of him.
During last year's tournament the likeable Irishman posted: "Fantastic week here in Coolum...wish every week on tour was like this!! :-)", and "Fantastic tournament and brilliant hospitality."
Clarke will be joined by Robert Allenby and John Senden, who have both been confirmed for this year's event from December 13-16.
