Sunshine Coast Council has officially established its position on the question of de-amalgamation - with support for the current unified local government model.
A resolution was passed at today's ordinary meeting following a request from the Queensland Boundaries Commission on where council stands on the issue.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson said council acknowledges this is a State Government process and it will continue to provide assistance where it can.
"It's important the Boundaries Commissioner receives all of the necessary information for it and the Government to make sound decisions," he said.
The resolution reads:
That Council: receive and note the report titled " Queensland Boundaries Commissioner Request"; and
(b) in response to the Queensland Boundaries Commissioner's request of 19 September 2012, acknowledge the State Government's boundary review process and advise that Council's preference is for the current unified local government model for the Sunshine Coast region to be retained.
