AUSTRALIANS may get a glimpse of their future king Prince George after confirmation that Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Catherine, will visit Australia next year.

The royal party is expected to visit Australia and New Zealand although the itinerary is yet to be finalised.

Prince George will be eight months old when in Australia, which is a month younger than Prince William was when he came to Australia with Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1983.

Acting Queensland Premier Jeff Seeney said today he would be happy to give the royal family a tour of the state's Great Barrier Reef during their visit.
