FROM Conondale local to country queen, Nellie Donovan has firmly cemented her place in the music industry.

Just last year Nellie, together with her husband Col Finley, formed Diezel Town and the pair has steadily gained followers with every performance.

Diezel Town's last gig at Finbar's Lounge Bar was especially memorable for Nellie.

"I was actually really nervous but it was great, so good," she said.

"I was on a high all night; there were people there that I hadn't seen for years, old school friends and locals I hadn't seen for a long time."

The night was such a success, Diezel Town now plans to kick off its Australian tour at Finbar's next month on Saturday, February 16.

The two award-winning artists first sang together back in 2006 with the co-written song Those Telephone Calls that was included on Nellie's debut album Steppin' Out.

Their roots country style is a reflection of real-life in a small town community with a focus on the positive stories.

"A lot of rural Australia is closing down because of how hard it is, but there are a lot of good stories behind them," Col said.

"We want to talk about the good stories not just the bad stories.

"There are young people who are sticking by their family through the generations in small towns."

Family is a top priority for the couple - their two young boys travel with them everywhere, just don't expect to see a Finley Family Band anytime soon.

"Our two-year-old was on the guitar stuff up on stage and our one-year-old was under the chair pulling Nel's leg," Col laughed.

Diezel Town's future was cemented with the release of their debut single Something To Talk About, a classic 1990s hit by Bonnie Raitt, from their album Small Town, Big Dreams.
