Economist tips rates cut

THE Reserve Bank has been tipped to cut the cash rate by 25 basis points to 3.50% when it meets on Tuesday.

Westpac chief economist Bill Evans wrote in a bulletin on Thursday that the low point in the current rate cycle would be 2.75%, conflicting with previous estimates of 3.25%.
