MAINTAINING good bladder and bowel health is important.

But recent research indicates 98% of Australians are not eating enough fruit and vegetables to ensure their health in this department.

Equally concerning, more than half of the 1010 people surveyed drink enough water each day and one in two women accidentally wet themselves when exercising, coughing, laughing or sneezing.

The findings coincide with the launch of a national Healthy Bladder and Bowel Habits campaign to reduce the growing number of Australians who experienced incontinence.

Improve Your Bottom Line, the Continence Foundation's healthy habits campaign, encourages people to adopt a few simple lifestyle changes to improve general wellbeing and bladder and bowel control.

These changes include eating seven serves of fruit and vegetables and five serves of cereals and breads, drinking six to eight glasses of water, and exercising for 30 minutes a day. Just one in five people surveyed undertake the right amount of exercise.
