Kyrgios's goal for next year? 'More time off'

TENNIS: Nick Kyrgios looks likely to raise the ire of Tennis Australia after appearing to do a u-turn on agreeing to see a sports psychologist in order to reduce his ATP Tour suspension down from eight to three weeks.

Tennis Australia had issued a statement on Tuesday saying the world No.14 had agreed to see a specialist for "appropriate professional advice” but yesterday he appeared to renege on that.

In a Twitter Q&A with fans, the 21-year-old answered a number of questions.

When one fan asked if he would consult with a sports psychologist during his suspension and off-season, Kyrgios replied "probs not”.

Another asked what his goals were for next year. "More time off,” he replied.

Someone also questioned about whether he had always given 100% effort on the tennis court, with Kyrgios replying "nah man”.

And he responded with "lol” when asked how he felt about playing tennis.

Kyrgios had partly blamed mental fatigue for last week's non-performance at the Shanghai Masters against Mischa Zverev.

As well as the eight-week ATP Tour ban he was ordered to pay more than $50,000 in fines.
