TWO lovebirds from Bundaberg provided some extra spectacle when they got engaged during the three-quarter break of a first-grade netball game in Brisbane.

With 3000 fans watching the game, Edmond D'Albret got down on one knee and proposed to girlfriend Katherine Miles on Sunday.

The fans broke into applause and cheers of encouragement.

Mr D'Albret said he had been preparing the surprise proposal for months and was a little bit nervous proposing in front of the sell-out crowd.

"Katherine's a really big netball fan and she barracks for the Firebirds," he said.

"I thought I'd take her to a home game and make it a memorable game for her to watch."

And memorable it was.

"It's crazy," Ms Miles said.

"I wasn't fully expecting it and it was a little bit embarrassing in front of everyone."

The couple joked that they could get married at a home game as well, possibly in 2013.
