THE debate on whether to allow a quad bike tour business to operate in a national park in Noosa has come to a head today with Mayor Mark Jamieson approving the application.

Councillors spent  two hours discussing the material change of use application at their Caloundra chambers.

After a tied vote, eventually resolved by Cr Jamieson, the application was approved.

The applicant has permission to run tours Monday to Saturday twice daily.

The tours will operate from the Tablelands Rd site and head into the Woondum National Park.
