THE Palmer United Party has applied to the Queensland Electoral Commission to cancel its registration.
The news appeared in a notice in the Queensland Government Gazette circulated on September 22.
"The ECQ has received an application from the following party's registered officer to cancel the registration of that party, under the provisions of the Electoral Act," the notice read.
A party spokesman told the Brisbane Times the move did not mean the Party would shut down altogether - as it remains registered at a federal level.
However, in the wake of the most recent federal election the only person associated with the party who still holds an elected position is Federal Senator Jacqui Lambie and her relationship with the party went down hill shortly after she was elected.
Mr Palmer is yet to comment publicly on the issue.
