Public speakers vie for primary schools contest finals title
THE Bribie Island RSL Sub-Branch is set to hold the 23rd annual Primary Schools Public Speaking Contest finals at 2pm on Sunday.
This is to be held in the auditorium of the Bribie Island RSL and Citizens Memorial Club and has always been a popular and entertaining event.
The final is the end result of an in-school competition at Bribie Island and Banksia Beach primary schools to decide who will be their representatives on the day.
There is the perpetual trophy for the school gaining the most points and this year cash prizes, provided by the Bribie Island RSL Sub-Branch and the Bribie Island RSL Women's Auxiliary, will be presented to all finalists.
The Bribie Island RSL Sub-Branch believes the competition offers valuable experience for the students by giving them the chance to exercise their skills in research and confidence in public speaking. In previous years many speakers have shown great skill, innovation and knowledge in presentations. Bribie Island Toastmasters will provide the judges.
Parents, friends, other students and the public are invited to join the audience on Sunday. There is no admission charge and complimentary afternoon tea will be provided by the RSL Women's Auxiliary at the conclusion of the competition.
For further information phone Fred Harper at the sub-branch on 3408 0450.
