Human canvas is a head turner

Nina M and her model, Julie Nottle, prepare for this weekend’s Body Art Fesival at Eumundi.

THERE is no blank canvas like the human body and in this artistic genre endless possibilities will be showcased at this weekend's Australian Body Art Carnivale.

For Noosa artist, Nina M of Nina&Brady, body art gives her the ability to create a living piece of artwork. She said a body art model's personality, and figure can alter the work and that was what made this artistic avenue amazing.

Nina said the carnivale was about opening people's eyes and inspiring them through the use of this new-aged medium.

First-time models for body art often think being exposed and on display will be a daunting experience but soon lap up the attention and find it fun.

"We live for capturing the moment," Nina said.

"Although it is not permanent, it is ever lasting, because we can reflect on the piece through photography. "It is not like a tattoo or a painting on canvas, it washes away." Body art can take up to six hours.
