Secret to success is in custom-built distinction
WHEN Bo Williams started the building process of a home in Maleny three years ago, his aim was to make it award winning.
The Unique Builders of Distinction owner and director has proved to be successful, after recently taking out the Custom Built Home Award at the 2012 HIA-CSR Sunshine Coast/Wide Bay Housing Awards.
The awards are held by Australia's peak industry body for residential construction, renovation and development, recognising design, construction, innovation and housing technology.
Mr Williams said he was proud of the achievement and how far his business had come since starting out 11 years ago.
"We're very proud to be recognised for projects of such outstanding finish," he said.
"We started off doing small steel-framed projects, and now we do anything from granny flats to houses worth millions of dollars.
"We wouldn't have been able to grow so much without the help our clients, suppliers and contractors."
The award-winning custom home in Maleny was in the $750,000 to $1 million dollar category, and was three years in the making.
"In this category we were up against a heap of Coastal builders," Mr Williams said.
"A lot of work went into the winning house, and our clients were really happy.
"There were a lot of high-end fixtures and fittings in the house, and expensive windows, doors and cabinetry.
"Rather than having a large quantity of building projects, our business really prefers working with customers to design custom-built homes with quality."
