BRIBIE Island State High School students wore red to welcome Bruce and Denise Morcombe on Tuesday afternoon.
The couple visited the school to introduce students to a new educational program which will focus on stranger danger.
Students wore red and donated gold coins toward the Daniel Morcombe Foundation which were presented to the couple during school assembly.
Music teacher Simone Woodham said despite most of the kids being too young to remember when Daniel disappeared, it was hard to find a student who wasn't aware of the family's story.
"Parents in the school community talk about the case as an example of why stranger danger is important," she said.
Ms Woodham said she believed the program empowered kids and gave them the knowledge to identify when they were unsafe and how to remove themselves from those situations.
"It achieves this without frightening them," she said.
While this was the first time Bruce and Denise had visited the school, Ms Woodham said they were always welcome.
