Tea-riffic fundraiser
SUNSHINE Beach Real Estate takes it seriously when they say Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.
The Duke St business will take over a next door bar and involve a handful of local businesses when it hosts a fundraising event for the Cancer Council this Thursday, May 24.
Real estate principal Pip Covell said it was the eighth year they have put it on.
This year they will take over the Marble Bar between 9.30am-12pm.
The Sunshine Beach SLSC will donate chairs and tables, Costa Noosa is donating all coffee and tea for the day and staff and their friends will bring in home made goods.
All money raised on the day from the $2 raffle tickets and $5 plate of food will go towards the cause.
"We're all baking our own home made goodies - everything on the day will be home made," Ms Covell said.
"I will be doing my smoked salmon sandwiches, it's a bit of a tradition for me."
Ms Covell said many staff at the office had been touched by cancer, including herself.
She lost her father Geoff when he was 48 years old.
"I was only 17. It started in the throat and went to his lungs," she said.
Sales administrator Caitlyn McConnell watched her brother Jake go through testicular cancer.
