DIRECTOR Peter Jackson has posted new behind-the-scenes footage from The Hobbit days before its world premiere.

The 14-minute video features a tour of the post-production offices where the final touches are being made to the first instalment of Jackson's three-part Hobbit series.

"It's due to be completed literally two days before the premiere, hopefully," Jackson said with a laugh.

"You're going to see a lot of sleep-deprived people in this blog. Everyone is working around the clock to get the film finished."

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will have its world premiere in Wellington on Wednesday.

The film opens on Boxing Day.
