Michael Keaton's movie boredom

MICHAEL Keaton quit Hollywood because he was "bored".

The 58-year-old actor - who is best known for playing the lead role in Batman and Batman Returns - took an extensive career break after losing enjoyment in his work, which led to him passing on movies which went on to be massive successes.

He explained: "One reason is, I got bored. I felt I was repeating myself and wasn't having a lot of fun doing what I used to have fun doing.

So I was always selective to a fault and not doing things which maybe I should have done".

Michael also admitted he needed to take time out of the spotlight in order to raise his son Sean, now 27, after agreeing joint custody with his ex-wife Caroline McWilliams.

He explained in an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I was raising a child full time, sharing the responsibility with his mom. He lived with me half the time so I chose not to go away and make certain movies.

Despite his disillusionment with Hollywood, Michael was delighted to be asked to voice Ken in Toy Story 3 because he is such a fan of Pixar's movies.

He said: "I saw some Pixar movies like The Incredibles and thought, 'This is extraordinary. These are some of the best movies I've seen'. So when I got the opportunity to do this, obviously I said yes".
