JULIA Gillard has downplayed a move by Kevin Rudd to leave Labor's logo off his campaign posters.

Unlike the advertising of other Labor candidates, the logo cannot be seen on any of Mr Rudd's campaign posters.

Ms Gillard dismissed the significance of move, insisting the former prime minister was committed to helping Labor get re-elected.

"I don't think it's a mystery to anyone that Kevin Rudd's an ALP member, an ALP member for Griffith, and he's campaigning for the re-election of the Labor government," Ms Gillard said.

The former prime minister's office has also defended the absence of the logo.

"Mr Rudd has been the local member for Griffith for 12 years, and people in the electorate are well aware that Mr Rudd is a member of the Australian Labor Party," his office said in a statement.

Ms Gillard maintains she has not been avoiding being seen with Mr Rudd during the campaign.

"I've said I'm available to campaign with Kevin Rudd," she said.

"I understand Kevin's out there working hard and campaigning hard in his own electorate."
