On Sunday, July 25, 39 athletes from the Sunshine Coast travelled to Ormiston College in Brisbane to represent their many local schools, and kids’ fitness and dance company, FitnessRox, at the Queensland SchoolaerobicsState Finals for Sportaerobicsand Dance.
The day proved to be an incredibly successful one for these athletes, with a total of four State Champion teams, a further six State Medals and five berths into the Australian Championships, to be held on August 21 and 22, at the Sleeman Centre, Brisbane.
The judges commented on the incredibly high standard of all sections on the day, which only adds to the outstanding achievement of these young Coast athletes.
“The kids have trained so hard over the past six months to achieve these results,” Madison Thew-Keyworth, head coach of FitnessRox, said.
“They represented the Coast with pride and showed great team spirit and sportsmanship on the day.
“It’s so exciting to see Sportaerobics and Dance developing on the Coast.
“Five berths into the National Championships is no mean feat; it just proves how amazing these Coast kids are!”
The athletes involved in the National Championships will continue training hard in order to be fully prepared to take on the rest of the country at next month’s event.
If you would like to become involved in Sportaerobics or Dance, with your chance to represent the Sunshine Coast, even Queensland, and maybe one day Australia, Madison and the FitnessRox Team can be contacted on 0422 221 783, or at info@fitnessrox.com
