Pyjama Foundation members (from left) Mary Parle, Sue Cluff and Denise Meloncelli begin their pyjama drive at Cooroy.
Rain clouds haunted us on Tuesday, but for an enthusiastic crew in Noosa, it was perfect pyjama weather.
The PJ lovers are part of an annual event run by The Pyjama Foundation and council libraries, which is calling for new pairs of pyjamas for boys and girls.
This warm appeal is after both winter and summer styles, in sizes 0000 to adult.
The aim of the pyjama campaign is to collect a record number of PJs for the estimated 31,000 children who enter foster care every year in Australia.
About 800 sets have already been collected across the Coast.
The Cooroy Rotary Club, Life Enhancing Chiropractic and Mr Whippy Sunshine Coast have also provided more than $1400 worth of new pyjamas to the foundation.
Council libraries project officer Sarah Wood said the campaign had been extended until August 31 and, after the phenomenal effort so far by the community, she looked forward to even more outfits being donated.
Aside from the clothing, The Pyjama Foundation also provides “Pyjama Angels” to lend support to Australian families, who in turn are supporting vulnerable children.
A stringent recruiting, screening and training process is carried out on these volunteer members of the community.
