Noosa News’ Life editor Ann Rickard has again been recognised nationally with the inclusion of her Noosa essay in a prestigious travel book published by the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
Chosen from a field of hundreds, Ann is excited about her selection for the publication.
“I’m delighted. It really is an honour,” she said.
The book, which is yet to be titled, will be launched in November at a glamorous affair in Sydney.
A 500 pre-order is confirmed from The Australian Tourism Commission.
This means the Noosa story, via Ann Rickard, will be shared around the world.
“Organisers of the launch are keeping details of the event a little secret but they tell me it’s going to be big,” Ann said.
“The Australian Tourism Commission is going to use the book internationally to promote Australian destinations and I’m thrilled my Noosa story will go out to the world.”
This is not a first for the author of six travel books.
Her work was included in the Australian Society of Travel Writer’s previous sell-out book titled Best Foot Forward.
The society’s new book features Australian destination stories garnered from the best travel writers in the country.
Ann’s story is underpinned by her love of Noosa.
She believes that writing about the place she lives rather than visits gives a different angle.
“It’s almost an emotional piece,” she said.
“It’s from the heart; about my first visit to Noosa in the 1970s, my family holidays here and all the things I just love about living here.
“It’s about my journey in Noosa.”
Before the Sydney launch, Ann’s literary success will be celebrated on the Coast with the launch of her latest book, another light-hearted travel narrative, Three in a Bed in the Med.
Following in her style of humorous travel writing, Ann’s book is another chance to leave the ordinary and take a hilarious trip into the extraordinary.
The rest you will have to wait for until October, when she launches Three in a Bed in the Med at berardo’s on October 14 and 15.
