FORMER Noosa Longweekend festival president John Fell has died following a six year battle with cancer.
Mr Fell, a long time supporter of the popular annual cultural event, first stepped into help in 2003 before eventually rising to the role of president in 2009.
He died at home yesterday, following a long battle with bladder cancer.
He was 62.
Mr Fell was also a prominent figure in Queensland's second tier financial sector, being a director of Australia's largest building society, Wide Bay Australia Ltd, up until 2010.
He was also the managing director of Gympie and North Coast Permanent Building Society over a 25 year period.
