SUNSHINE Coast Dog Obedience Club will host a Rally-O and Obedience competition in which more than 50 dogs are expected to compete. The special event will provide an opportunity for the local community to see first-hand the breeds in all their glory when they compete. Judges from all over Queensland will have the job of choosing the best competing canine.

THIS community Christmas event is sure to put everyone in a festive mood. Christmas Markets, food stalls, rides, animal farm, carols and fireworks are all on offer.


What: Free stand up paddleboarding try-out, spinal check and barbecue

When: November 26 and December 10, 11am-1pm

Where: Lake Kawana

Dr DAVID Hendrey and his team at Hendrey Chiropractic have teamed with Viking Kayak and SUPs to launch a campaign to get people moving and consider their spinal health. Two community days are planned, dedicated to raising spine awareness - and having some fun at the same time. On November 26 and December 10, the community is invited to join a free try-out session for stand up paddleboarding, get a spinal check and enjoy a barbecue.

DON'T miss your last chance to view Michael Taylor's latest mask sculptures. It has been a while since gallery owners Tony Gill and Jane Caraffi had any new works from him (due to other artistic commitments in his life). The results have been well worth the wait for collectors and art lovers.

A LOCAL business and a pet rescue group are coming together again to assist pets in finding their "furever homes” this Christmas. The event will raise funds for Queensland non-profit organisation Silver Lining Pet Rescue. For a small donation, pet owners are encouraged to bring their pets along in their cutest or craziest pet outfits, for a photo with "the man in the red suit”. Families must book in advance and can choose to take their own photograph for $5 or have a professional photographer create a personalised Christmas card for $10, available for collection in the store the following week. Staff will be providing free face painting and kids' activities.


What: P&O Cruises' Pacific Pearl returns to Mooloolaba for shore tours

Where: The Wharf, Mooloolaba

VISIT Sunshine Coast volunteers will be out in force at The Wharf, Mooloolaba, tomorrow morning to greet the cruise ship passengers from the Pacific Pearl. This will be the last ship for 2016 to call in to the Sunshine Coast. Businesses are set to put the welcome mat out.


What: Big day of wheelchair basketball with the Wheelchair Basketball Southern Challenge

Where: Caloundra Indoor Stadium

SPORTING Wheelies is holding its annual Southern Challenge on the Sunshine Coast tomorrow. Suncoast Spinners will be competing against Brisbane, Gold Coast and Toowoomba. Spectator entry is free.


What: 100 Drawings in 100 Days, sold in 100 minutes

When: Friday, November 25. Bidding for the artworks will start at 6pm and ends at 7.40pm

ARTIST de Shan is at it again: her 5th annual 100 Drawings in 100 Days, to be sold in 100 minutes. The subjects in this year's 100 is a mix of movie stars and celebrities, superheroes, fairytale characters and rock stars.


What: Triple J favourites Holy Holy are heading for the Sunshine Coast

When: Friday, November 25

Where: Solbar, Maroochydore

AFTER a huge 2015 which featured the release of their debut album When The Storms Would Come, Holy Holy will hit the stage at Solbar for their growing legion of fans. Support will be dream-pop collective and I Know Leopard and Alex L'Estrange.

THE Nambour Classic Flower Show charity event will be held in support of the Red Cross and Equity Works. An initiative of Drysdale Funerals, the Nambour Classic Flower Show aims to raise much-needed awareness and funds for those in need as we head into Christmas. The event will be officially opened by Member for Nicklin Peter Wellington, and will also include a local photography exhibition, a flower art competition and other fun activities.
