54-year-old charged with sword attack on teens

A MAN has been charged following an incident that occurred early this morning on Watts Street at Maryvale.

Around 1am, police responded to calls that two youths had received injuries which were allegedly were caused by a man who was armed with a sword.

A 15-year-old girl was treated for cuts to her hand and a 16 year-old boy was treated for a large laceration to his back and were both taken to Warwick Hospital for treatment.

A 54-year-old man was taken into custody at a residence on Watts Street and has been charged with two counts of common assault and one count each of wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court tomorrow.
