Norwegian museum returns priceless art to Jewish family
A NORWEGIAN museum has agreed to return a priceless Matisse painting to the family of Jewish art dealer Paul Rosenberg after the Nazis stole it from him during the Second World War.
The 1937 painting, Woman in Blue in Front of a Fire, has been in the Henie Onstad Art Centre near Oslo since 1968.
The museum said although it acquired the $22.17 million painting in good faith from a Paris art dealer, it had chosen to return the painting to the Rosenberg heirs.
