Wotif reveals the number-one annoyance for Aussie travellers

WHEN it comes to being bothered on holidays, tipping troubles and rude locals are nothing to Australian travellers compared to unpacking and doing the laundry upon the return home.

Travel destination website Wotif.com found domestic chores to be an annoying reality check for most, frustrating more than one in four of 6900 Australians surveyed.

The second most annoying part of holidaying was tipping, followed by rude locals, paying to use toilets and language barriers.

Although 21% of those surveyed said nothing annoyed them when they were on holidays.

Wotif.com spokesperson Kirsty La Bruniy listed a few tactics for returning travellers to combat the post-holiday blues and help make getting back into the daily grind more bearable.

"When I get back I'm always thinking about what's next, so a good tip is to book a weekend away before you leave for your holiday so you have something to look forward to when you return," she said.

"To make the holiday feeling last longer I also try and cook some of my favourite holiday dishes and also change the wines I drink to the selection I discovered on my adventures.

"And if you really want to avoid getting into a spin with the post-holiday laundry, it can pay to take advantage of the hotel's laundry service before you return."

Another suggestion was pretending to be a tourist in your own city or doing a few day trips in surrounding regions. - APN NEWSDESK
