A-League stars ready to shock Italian champs

FOOTBALL: It might be a pre-season friendly, but A-League All Stars representatives Besart Berisha and Thomas Broich will not hold back against Juventus at ANZ Stadium on Sunday night.

Roar midfielder Broich went as far as saying his team could cause a major upset against the Italian Serie A champions.

"It's a very big ask, but on any given day anything's possible," the two-time Johnny Warren Medal winner said.

"What we'll do is reflect the standard of football in Australia - we want to walk off that pitch feeling proud."

But that wasn't to say Broich would not stand in awe of his opponents, in particular World Cup winner Andrea Pirlo, who has had a glittering career.

"I think it's going to be even more difficult (than the game against Manchester United last year)," Broich said.

"This team has been playing together for quite some time and they've been highly successful in recent years.

"I wouldn't mind getting Pirlo's shirt, but I guess every single one of us is after that shirt."

Berisha, who scored for the All Stars in last year's match against Manchester United, agreed the fixture would showcase the emergence of Australian football.

"I played some big clubs in Europe, but this is one of the biggest games for me," he said. "We are a league that's getting better and better and we need to show this on Sunday."
