Vintage paradise for "everything girl” opens in Caloundra
A VINTAGE paradise for "everything girly" has opened the doors to its quirky mix of designer clothes, bags, belts and jewellery at a shopfront in Caloundra.
Located next to the Caloundra Post Office on Ormuz Avenue, Get Frocked 4 Under $25 is the invention of mother and daughter team Wendy and Terry Herrmann, who dreamed up the idea after running beauty and hair sal
ons together for years.
"I used to do a lot of travelling and I found the Sunshine Coast had a lack of unusual vintage clothes," Wendy said.
"Caloundra is a lower income area and I just wanted to cater for people who don't have a lot of money but still want to dress really nicely."
Wendy's contacts in the industry helped the business source high-end items from across Australia, often from classy boutiques that were closing. Deliveries arrived twice a week and while nothing in the shop costs more than $25, many items were worth hundreds.
"Everything in the shop is designer, half of it's brand new and half is pre-loved," she said.
Wendy worked in a corporate position for 13 years before opening her first beauty business.
"I always had to dress really nice, it cost me a lot of money," she said.
"I became a single mother and still had a 'champagne taste' but I had a beer budget.
"I don't like to shop at Kmart because you find something nice and everyone else has it on."
If you call in to the store, you'll find fashion label items from Colette Dinnigan, Zimmerman, Seduce, Bardot, Alanna Hill, Wish, Forever New, Guess, Lorna Jane and more.
