Campaign plates up Queensland food and wine

TOURISM Australia's latest campaign will see food and wine from across regional Queensland feature heavily on the menu as part of a push to showcase the state's wares to a global audience.

The Restaurant Australia campaign aims to position Queensland as one of the world's leading global destinations for food and wine experiences, serving up the best culinary experiences in remarkable locations every day.

As part of the campaign, Queensland's Restaurant Ambassadors Ben O'Donoghue, Craig Squire and Sunshine Coast-based chef Shane Stanley will host some of the world's most influential food critics, bloggers and influencers to experience the state's gastronomic delights first-hand.

Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey said the initiative provided a tremendous opportunity to position Queensland as one of the world's leading destinations for food and wine experiences.

"Queensland boasts an enviable offering of fresh produce coupled with awe-inspiring destinations to suit all palates - from fine-dining in the state's cultural capital to traditional Indigenous bush tucker in Queensland's Outback and open-air restaurants by the sea," she said.

"This campaign also provides Queensland tourism with an opportunity to gain exposure in key international visitor markets."

Queensland businesses are encouraged to get involved in the global campaign by sharing their offering of food and wine experiences on the Restaurant Australia website and to join the conversation on social media using the #restaurantaustralia hashtag.
