Carlton run out of patience with young Josh Bootsma

CARLTON yesterday ran out of patience with young defender Josh Bootsma, tearing up his contract after repeated breaches of the club's code of conduct.

The 21-year-old, taken with pick 22 in the 2011 national draft, played 14 games for the Blues who tried to trade him back to a West Australian club at the end of last season. He hasn't played a senior game this season.

Meanwhile Collingwood has lost Steele Sidebottom for three weeks after the midfielder accepted a rough conduct charge for his elbow to the head of St Kilda's Maverick Weller on Friday night.

But Magpies coach Nathan Buckley expects to be able to call on Dane Swan and Luke Ball to fill the breach for Monday's danger game against Melbourne at the MCG. Swan (heel) and Ball (calf) missed the match against the Saints.

Defender and former skipper Nick Maxwell will be unavailable after injuring his calf against St Kilda.
