Sellout Aldi dupe of $500 item returns

AT  first glance, this blue cast-iron cooking pot may not seem that interesting. After all, it's a normal item found in many Aussie homes.

But this item is an Aldi Special Buys that retails for just $23 - and sold out "within seconds" when it went on sale last year.

Despite the pot still being days away from going on sale, savvy shoppers are already gearing up for chaos at the shops on Saturday, June 1.

Since news of the German budget retailer's winter cooking range was released, fans have been sharing their excitement online.

One affordable style blogger, Luxe and Lemonade, posted a photo of the pot - also known as a Dutch oven - alongside a $500 Le Creuset version, with the hashtag: "samesamebutdifferent."

While they may look identical - and are apparently also of a similar quality - there is a major difference between the two.

Yep, the Aldi version of the cooking essential is a whopping $477 cheaper and the reason why so many people are prepared to brave the queues on the weekend.

"I've had mine for over a year and swear by it," Luxe and Lemonade told her followers. "I've been pretty impressed."

Aldi Lovers Australia also posted a photo of a cast-iron French pan, obtained in the 2018 sale.

The snap prompted fellow shoppers to share their stories of snagging a pot, with one revealing they were "gone in seconds" at her local store.

"Got the Dutch oven this morning. There were about 30 people lined up including me ready for the doors to open. Dutch oven and French pans were all gone in seconds. Wish I had of got the French pan also," she wrote.

Another user had a similar experience: "My local store pretty much sold out of the 20cm and 28cm pans this morning."

As well as being sold in a blue colour, there's also a red, white and black version.

There's also a cast-iron French pan up for grabs.

Other items in the winter cooking sale include a cast-iron French pan for $24.99, a cast-iron saucepan for $19.99 and a cast-iron griddle for $17.99.

Aldi fans are used to facing dramatic scenes when they complete their groceries, with the Special Buys items regularly causing a frenzy.
