A NEW development plans to offer business at the front and lifestyle at the back in an increasingly busy section of a Coast town.
An application to build a seven-shopfront complex next door to the Aldi supermarket in Nambour has been lodged for the consideration of the Sunshine Coast Council.
If approved, six of the shopfronts will be behind the Howard St Markets and one will have frontage to Howard St.
There will be 24 three-bedroom units built at the back of the property.
Those units are proposed to be double storey with double garages.
"Redevelopment of residential land east and south of the site for higher density residential use has started to occur and is expected to continue into the future due to the land's inclusion with the medium density residential zone under the new Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014," the application read.
The site has the Aldi supermarket and vacant land to its west and vacant land approved for multiple dwelling units to its north.
An existing driveway will be extended to provide access to the showrooms' 96-space car park as well as to units at the back.
A further 54 car parks have been planned for the residential section.
"The proposal achieves a contemporary, architecturally designed development with building articulation and variation in building materials and treatments to ensure the development presents attractively to Howard St, to other site boundaries and internally within the development site."
The council is calling on members of the public to make submissions on the application until December 5.
