Aldi, Kmart, Woolies, Big W sign on to new centre

QIC Global Real Estate has confirmed Aldi and Kmart will be new additions to the redeveloped Grand Central and Gardentown shopping centres.

Aldi will be joined by Big W, Woolworths, six other "mini majors" and 120 specialty shops once the two shopping centres are redeveloped and connected by a retail bridge.

Investment general manager for QIC Global Real Estate, Scott Douglas, told business group City Heart Toowoomba that builders' tenders were due last week.

Building work is set to start in October this year and will take 23 months to complete.

It could be open by September 2016.

The centre is expected to create 1500 permanent and part-time jobs.
