Alleged car thief caught with drugs in carpark arrest
A MAN on a return to prison warrant has been charged with 14 offences after he was caught with an alleged stolen car on the Sunshine Coast yesterday.
Beerwah Acting Senior Sergeant Tully Anderson told the Daily police were conducting patrols when they saw an allegedly stolen vehicle with allegedly stolen plates parked behind a Beerwah motel.
They arrested the 22-year-old Forest Lake man for allegedly stealing the white Ford Ranger ute, who was also allegedly in possession in a small quantity of dangerous drugs and drug utensils.
The owner of the Ford Ranger reported it stolen from Morayfield between June 5 and 6.
“She doesn’t know how it was stolen because she parked the vehicle often secured and the key was inside the house but the offender had the key on him when located,” Sen-Sgt Anderson said.
The man had also previously allegedly evaded Caloundra police on May 24 in a grey Nissan Patrol.
“I advise people to not have their keys on display,” Sen-Sgt Andersons said.
“Our crime rate is reasonably low at the moment but I always advise people to lock their doors and ensure their garage doors are down.”
The man was remanded in custody and will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court this morning on 14 offences, including unlawful use of motor vehicles, possession of dangerous drugs and evading police.
