Fast food store robbed at knife-point, suspect arrested

BREAKING: A 28-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly robbing a Maroochydore fast food store with a knife.

Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch acting officer-in-charge Tim Byrnes said a man used a knife to threaten a female attendant at the Red Rooster on Maroochydore Rd about 11.30am Friday.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Byrnes said the man passed a note to the attendant before he was handed cash.

He said the man fled the store and no one was injured.

A 28-year-old Gold Coast man was arrested about 1am Sunday at Mudgeeraba after police conducted a forensic examination of evidence from the robbery scene.

He was charged with armed robbery.

The man is due to appear in custody in Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
