Vincent Aviation in receivership

IN JUST six months, two regional airlines flying routes to northern parts of regional New South Wales have collapsed, with Darwin-based Vincent Aviation now in the hands of receivers.

Vincent took over the role of Brindabella Airlines, which stopped flying on December 15 last year - it too fell into receivership.

Vincent ran flights between Narrabri, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Darwin plus fly-in, fly-out routes.

Passengers due to take flights with Vincent are now being told to contact BDO Business Recovery and Insolvency, the Queensland firm now examining the fallen airline.

The company is telling customers via its website that while refunds are possible, they are unlikely if ticket buyers paid in cash.

They would have to lodge a claim with the company unless they have travel insurance that covers insolvency.

Those who paid by credit card are being told to contact their bank to claim a "chargeback".

Brindabella cancelled all flights on December 15, just nine days before Christmas, blaming competition, maintenance problems and financial problems.
