POPULAR Buderim artist Val Ross has decided to clear out her studio ahead of Christmas, and has invited everyone on the Coast to snap up an art bargain this Sunday with proceeds going toward Cittamani Hospice.
The colourful painter said its the "incredible” value of the palliative care which Cittamani provides that makes it worth supporting them.
"I guess you could say it's been my association with people who have used their services [which has prompted the sale],” she said.
"We have very little of this sort of thing on the Coast, and they are desperately needed services.”
Additionally, she said everyone was welcome to pick up and enjoy some well-priced art.
"Usually I sell large pieces unframed for $800, which I'm now selling for $100, and prints usually going for $50 down to $10,” she said.
"It's an excellent opportunity to aquire my work, particularly the prints which are reasonably priced for Christmas presents.
"And who knows when they or their families may need the care and support Cittamani provides.”
As a reasonably well-known and long-time resident artist of the Buderim area, Ms Ross said she hoped her reputation would give lift to the fundraiser.
When asked how long her pieces generally take her, she answered, "75 years”.
"I studied in New Zealand, then in London, then in New York, working on my painting,” she said.
"So essentially I suppose I've been painting forever.
"I had my first exhibit 55 year ago, and have just gone on from then.”
She said she loves being able to affect people through her artworks, and reflected that in this way her work ties in with Cittamani's - trying to give people happiness and comfort in their lives.
"If your work gives joy to people and makes them feel good, that's what it's about,” she said.
"I'm just happy if the paintings give people joy.”
Those interested are welcome to 1 Johnston Place, Buderim from 9am onwards on November 20.
Ms Ross said all proceeds will be donated to the Cittamani Hospice.
