As it happens: M'dore v Noosa league decider

RUGBY LEAGUE: The region's heavyweights, Maroochydore and Noosa, will collide in the Rugby League Sunshine Coast grand final at Bokarina on Sunday.

While the Swans will try to retain their division one title, the Pirates will attempt to claim their first premiership since 2008.

The Brett Winkler-coached Maroochydore finished the six-team regular season atop the ladder, before accounting for Kawana in the major semi-final to earn a spot in the decider.

Noosa, steered by Ron Greentree, only just edged into the four-team play-offs in fourth place but then stunned Caloundra and Kawana to get a place on the big stage.

It's a remarkable turnaround from the northerners, which failed to field a team for the second half of last season.

Propped up by a selection of Sunshine Coast Falcons this season, the Pirates are in-form and poised to present a test to the Swans.
