Bendigo banks on the King of the Mountain
THE major sponsor of the Pomona King of the Mountain festival, Bendigo Bank has announced a new three year pledge to Australia's most gruelling and historic mountain race.
Through its Cooroy Community Bank branch, the branch's parent company, Sunshine Coast Community Financial Services Ltd has committed $6000 to the staging of the event in 2013 and the same amount in 2014 and 2015.
A delighted Cooroy Community Bank branch manager Geoff Edwards said, as locals, the branch recognised how important an event this was for Pomona.
"It's precisely what our Community Bank is about," Mr Edwards said.
"This is about banking profits going back into our community and it's because of the support locals' show us that we can announce sponsorships as important as this one.
"Pomona King of the Mountain remains one of the best opportunities for our community to get together in the Noosa hinterland."
Pomona King of the Mountain chairperson Jim Austin said the committee was over the moon to have a three year commitment from the Community Bank.
The 35th Pomona King of the Mountain Festival on July 28 is a free fun day out for the whole family with the Bendigo Bank International Mountain Challenge, market stalls, food, entertainment, live music, rides and more.
