Barbra Streisand ‘clones’ beloved dog

ANIMAL lover Barbra Streisand has revealed that two of her dogs are clones of her beloved late dog, Sammie.

The actress told Variety that her two Coton de Tulear dogs are cloned from 17-year-old Sammie, who died in 2017.

Streisand revealed vets used cells from the dog's mouth and stomach to form the two pups.

When the dogs arrived, she told the magazine she put one pup in a red jumper, and the other in purple, which led to their names Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett.

"They have different personalities," Streisand told Variety. "I'm waiting for them to get older so I can see if they have her brown eyes and her seriousness."

Streisand is also mum to Miss Fanny, another Coton de Tulear, who is a distant cousin of Sammie's.

It was love at first sight, after the breeder told Streisand that Miss Fanny's mother was named Funny Girl, after one of the singer's most famous movies.

Scarlett, Violet and Fanny, who all bear a striking resemblance to one another, live the high life with Streisand and husband, James Brolin in California.

Meanwhile, Streisand also told Variety about an uncomfortable experience with disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.

"I thought he was vulgar," she said, about a disagreement they had on opening night of Weinstein's musical Finding Neverland.

"He wanted me to come there on his arm and sing a song on the album," Streisand recalled. "I said, 'No. I can't do that.'" He then threatened not to work with her on future movies and said he would not be sending any of his released to her for viewing. "That kind of stupidity. So I thought he was a boorish guy."
