WIDESPREAD soaking rainfall is forecast to sweep over Toowoomba, the Darling Downs and south-west Queensland this week.

Rain is expected over the next three days before significant rain arrives on Thursday.

Some forecasters are predicting more than 100mm of rain this week in Toowoomba, including falls of up to 50mm on Thursday and 25mm on Friday.

There are other predictions of more than 150mm over the next five days.

Similar falls are expected across in Roma, Chinchilla, Wandoan, Miles and Dalby.

Kingaroy and the South Burnett could receive close to 150mm for the week.
