Beach stay is perfect break
FOR the Rodda family of Canberra, relaxing as a family with Laguna Bay lapping nearby, Noosa ticks all their boxes for must-haves when it comes to beach breaks.
Michael said he and wife Danielle had been coming to Noosa to relax for more than 12 years.
"We've just started adding our little boy Tyler to the mix as well; this is his second trip up here," Michael said,
"We find it very relaxing as soon as we hit Noosa. It has everything we need, really great food, great beaches for the little one, the calm waters for my wife, but also I can sneak across to Sunshine Beach for a bit of a surf.
"We love the run out to Hells Gates."
He says the climate and the "relaxed nature of the people" are all part of the lure that keeps bringing them back again and again.
"For us it's ideal."
They are here for a six-day break this time. In July they stayed for 10 days escaping the ACT freeze, and last November he and Danielle had a five-day escape on their own.
Their experience is shared by the many who voted for Noosa as among their 100 Greatest Holidays of Australia to Australian Traveller - one of the country's largest travel publications.
Noosa was selected as one of the beach breaks based on more than 12,000 nominations that were voted on by a panel of travel industry experts.
Travel expert and judging panel member, Kerry Heaney, described Noosa as a "hard-to-beat combo of subtropical beach perfection and foodie heaven in a natural paradise".
Tourism Noosa general manager Damien Massingham said: "We have always known Noosa is the perfect beach getaway, but to be named ahead of many other Australian coastal destinations as one of the best is a wonderful acknowledgement and tribute to our region".
