Beach warning as four teens rescued from Coast surf

FOUR teenagers plucked from a rip at Kings Beach this morning has sounded a timely alarm for Coast beachgoers.

A Surf Life Saving Queensland Sunshine Coast spokesman said four teens aged 17 and 18 were pulled from a rip just outside the flags at Kings Beach at about 9.15am.

Lifeguards pulled the youngsters from the surf, two were rescued on tubes, the other two on boards, and assisted back to shore unharmed.

With big crowds flocking to our beaches over the Christmas weekend and plenty of out-of-towners headed to the region in the next few weeks the spokesman said this morning's rescue was a timely reminder to take care in the surf.

He recommended anyone not familiar with local conditions to check in with lifeguards or lifesavers before hitting the water for advice on best spots to swim and current conditions, with changing rips or sweeps.
