Emma Beau scores Muster berth
SUNSHINE Coast and Gympie music lovers threw their support behind singer and songwriter Emma Beau (nee Barlow) when she sought crowd funding for her EP, Make It For You.
The EP reached No.26 on the iTunes pop charts and 11 on Foxtel's CMC Top 30 Countdown.
The 24-year-old talent is now gearing up to support Kasey Chambers and Jon English on the main stage at this year's Gympie Music Muster.
Ms Beau said the event set itself apart from other music festivals around the country.
"It's the fact that you can go there and see country music, blues, folk … it's got a little bit of everything for everyone," she said.
The travelling musician balanced performing with studying a graphic design and visual arts degree, something Ms Beau said gave her another creative outlet.
Proud father Geoff Barlow said his daughter was encouraged throughout her schooling years.
"We find it pretty amazing that she's doing this, it's very exciting," he said.
Mr Barlow said his daughter's talent wasn't something he shared.
"If you wanted to clear the room, you'd get me to sing," he said.
The Gympie Music Muster will be held at the Amamoor Creek State Forest Park from Thursday to Sunday.
Beau will appear at the Muster with Chambers on Saturday at 9pm on the main stage.
She will appear with English on Thursday at 8pm and Friday at 2.30pm at Crowbar.
