Bingley has high hopes for Everest challenge
MELINDA Bingley is facing an uphill battle against biting winds and extreme cold in one of the world's most unforgiving terrains.
But it's not the climb itself that makes her nervous, nor the freezing cold. It's the single element out of her control: altitude sickness.
"It's the only thing that makes me nervous, and also excites me," Ms Bingley said.
"It doesn't matter how fit or strong you are, it's about respecting the mountain," she said.
That mountain is Mount Everest. Last Sunday, Ms Bingley packed her bags and set off to Nepal on the adventure of a lifetime.
The daring trip came just days after the successful businesswoman won the young category at the Sunshine Coast Business Women's Network awards.
The Caloundra local and MAB Personal Training and Adventures owner had worked hard to ensure she was prepared.
"I'm always outdoors climbing mountains, that's a part of my lifestyle," Ms Bingley said.
Ms Bingley will hike to Mount Everest base camp.
