Tribute to the legend of our Ida

Noosa’s Botanic Gardens at Cooroy will be named in honour of the woman who helped create them through sheer sweat and determination – Ida Duncan.

The Australia Day crowd sent up a spontaneous round of applause as Cr Russell Green made the announcement from the Noosaville Lions park stage on Wednesday.

Jim Duncan, husband of the much loved community worker Ida, who passed away in 2009, accepted the initiative and Local Legend award on her behalf.

Noosaville State School student Chandler Kamradt represented the new generation of community givers whose path had been defined through the example of all Local Legend nominees.
