Board race silver in France for our Luke

MOOLOOLABA'S Luke Cuff has picked up a silver medal as Sunshine Coast competitors continue to impress at the World Surf Life Saving Championships in France.

Fresh from his strong performance at the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman Series the 20-year-old finished second in the board race behind surf lifesaving legend Shannon Eckstein.

Clubmate Amy Nurthen also impressed with a bronze medal in the women's surf ski race, crossing behind Naomi Flood and Northcliffe's Kristyl Smith.

Nurthen came close to backing up in the board race, but finished just behind Northcliffe trio Harriet Brown, Rebecca Creedy and Maddy Dunn.

The World Interclub Open championships continued overnight with several Coast competitors scheduled to compete.

In the World Interclub Youth Championships, Maroochydore was the highest ranked team after two days of action, in sixth place with 141 points.

Mooloolaba was just behind in seventh place with 128 points.
